Effectiveness

How Evoxac Affects Patients

Cevimeline is a drug that stimulates the muscarinic receptors in the body. When taken in large enough doses, it can cause certain glands (like sweat and saliva glands) to produce more, and can also change the muscle tone in the digestive and urinary systems.

How Evoxac works in the body

Cevimeline is a medication that stimulates saliva production, relieving dry mouth. It does this by activating two types of receptors in the body, the M1 and M3 receptors. The M1 receptor stimulates the secretion of fluids from glands, while the M3 receptor causes smooth muscle contraction and increased glandular secretions. These effects work together to increase saliva production, which helps reduce the symptoms of dry mouth.

Evoxac for Dry Mouth Secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome

Evoxac is a pretty effective medication, though it only lasts for about an hour. Another issue I've had is that it seems to have made my acne worse. Has anyone else experienced this side effect?

Evoxac for Dry Mouth Secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome

was working great for months, but then I developed an allergy to it. Caused: "Throat Swelling." Felt like I couldn't breathe and my throat was closing off. Tried it again in June 2015 and had the same reaction after a few days.

Evoxac for Dry Mouth Secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome

I really rely on this medication to avoid cotton mouth. When I couldn't get my refill over the weekend, I had to go without it for two days. Those were tough! This stuff is expensive, but it works like a charm.

Unfortunately, this medication gives me a lot of unwanted side effects like excessive sweating and night leg cramps.

Evoxac for Dry Mouth Secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome

I have Sjogren's Syndrome, which causes really terrible dry mouth. This medication is the only thing that helps me at all. I took it three times a day when I first started using it, and now I'm up to four pills per day. It's effective for about the first few hours, but for anyone with this condition, that relief from dry mouth is amazing!

I've had a lot of side effects while taking this medicine, to the point where I've tried quitting several times. Unfortunately, the relief it provides is too great for me to stay off of it.

Evoxac for Dry Mouth Secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome

I've been on this medication for a while now, and it's helped me a lot. However, I recently started having severe leg cramps at night, so I'm going to discontinue use.

Evoxac for Dry Mouth Secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome

Though this medication has been effective in combating my dry mouth, the side effects are so severe that I have to discontinue use. Three times a day as directed caused me immense nausea, cramping, sweating and exhaustion, so I reduced consumption to once daily. Even still, the after-effects were too much for me handle and left me bedridden. It's such a shame because it was working so well otherwise.

Evoxac for Dry Mouth Secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome

The side effects of this medication are really terrible. I felt nauseous and exhausted after taking it, and ended up gaining ten pounds from overeating. The only positive effect was that it helped my sore mouth, but it wasn't worth the other problems.
