Effectiveness

How Inderal Affects Patients

Propranolol is a drug used to treat high blood pressure. It is taken once or twice a day, depending on the situation. If patients stop taking propranolol suddenly, they may experience chest pain or a heart attack.

How Inderal works in the body

Propranolol is a drug that blocks beta-adrenergic receptors. When blocked, these receptors cause the blood vessels to narrow and stop the growth of new blood vessels. It also helps stop the body from creating certain hormones that affect blood pressure.

When to interrupt dosage

The measure of Inderal is contingent upon the identified disease, including Catecholamines, Hypertensive sickness and Hemangiomas. The amount of dosage is contingent on the administration procedure (e.g. Solution - Oral or Capsule, extended release - Oral) delineated in the table beneath.

Propranolol may decrease the bronchodilatory activities of Abediterol.

Adrafinil

Major

The therapeutic efficacy of Adrafinil can be decreased when used in combination with Propranolol.

Agrostis gigantea pollen

Major

The risk of a hypersensitivity reaction to Agrostis gigantea pollen is increased when it is combined with Propranolol.

Inderal Toxicity & Overdose Risk

Overdosing on propranolol can cause low blood pressure, seizures, restlessness, and difficulty sleeping. Those with asthma may experience difficulty breathing. If a patient overdoses on propranolol, their vital signs and mental status should be monitored, and low blood pressure should be treated with intravenous fluids. To treat bradycardia, atropine or isoproterenol and aminophylline can be used. Glucagon is recommended if intravenous fluids are not effective, followed by catecholamines. Dialysis will not be effective since propranolol is highly protein bound.

Inderal Reviews: What are patients saying about Inderal?

Patient Review

Inderal for Essential Tremor

So far, I'm really pleased with this medication. I was on Primidone for three years to treat my tremors, but my doctor told me to add Inderal (which is really just the generic version) to the mix. So far, it's been working great and I haven't had any tremors. The only downside is that I have to be careful about gaining weight, but I'm hoping to conquer that at the gym.

Inderal for Migraine Prevention

This medicine has been a total game-changer for me. I used to suffer from 1-2 migraines per week, and they were severe enough that I would have to spend 24 hours in a dark room just trying to recover. But since taking Inderal, my migraines have gone down to once a month or even longer intervals. It's really changed my life for the better.

Inderal for Migraine Prevention

I've been taking this since 1999 and it's by far the best migraine medication I've ever tried. I used to get migraines almost every week that would confine me to a dark room in agony, but since taking this medication I've only had them sporadically and they're much easier to live with.

Patient Review

10/18/2015

Inderal for High Blood Pressure

This medication is excellent. I take one capsule every morning, 160mg, and it works well on my high-normal BP. It also has a sedating effect that is most pleasant and unexpected. My family doctor said nothing about this, he waited to see if I noticed the calming effect. He said he has taken it himself just for the mild sedation. The benzo types of anti-anxiety meds are caveman clubs compared to Inderal. Plus my dosage I'm told is lower than most take.

Patient Q&A Section about inderal

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

Is Inderal a sleeping pill?

"Inderal 10 MG Tablet does not have a known effect on sleep. It works by reducing blood pressure by blocking the beta2 receptors present on the heart, which are responsible for increased blood pressure. It also relaxes the blood vessels, which enhances proper blood flow in the body."

Answered by AI

Is Inderal used for anxiety?

"A beta-blocker such as propranolol may be prescribed by a doctor to help relieve a person's anxiety symptoms during stressful situations, like going to a party or giving a speech."

Answered by AI

What are the most common side effects of propranolol?

"Propranolol's primary side effects are feelings of dizziness or fatigue, cold hands and feet, difficulty sleeping, and nightmares. These effects are generally mild and of limited duration."

Answered by AI

What is the side effects of Inderal?

"You may feel dizzy, lightheaded, or tired as your body gets used to the medication. Other possible side effects include nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, vision changes, trouble sleeping, and strange dreams. Heparin Dosing for Blood Clots and Heart Conditions

18+
All Sexes
Alexandria, VA

The goal of this clinical trial study is to test whether a mathematical calculation, using the patient's gender, weight and kidney function, can better predict a patient's heparin goal dose than a flat number of units per patient weight can. Participants will have the first dose of heparin infusion calculated, after which if adjustments are needed, the Hospital's prebuilt table for results driven dosing for this purpose is used. The researchers will compare the time it takes for the participants to get to the desired goal using the patient's information for calculation versus patients in the past who received the medication using the flat rate. The hypothesis is that the patients with enhanced personal data, gender, weight and kidney function, included for the initial dose, will get to their goal lab value sooner and with less chance of delay or overshooting the goal. A quicker time to goal lab value is beneficial to patients in many ways, including earlier treatment of the clot or coronary issue that the patient is experiencing.

Embolization for Migraine

18 - 80
All Sexes
Baltimore, MD

This study is to test the safety and feasibility of a procedure called embolization of the middle meningeal arteries (MMA), using a product called Onyx. Embolization creates a plug in the arteries. MMA embolization with Onyx is not approved for use in patients with migraines, but is currently used in patients with subdural hematomas. The FDA is allowing the use of Onyx in this study. It is thought that by using Onyx to block the middle meningeal arteries, the amount of migraine-causing substances which are released into the brain's bloodstream will be reduced. The company that manufactures Onyx, Medtronic, is providing the supplies for this study. Participants will be in the study for about 8 months after enrolling, including 6 months of follow up after the procedure. The participants will be asked to complete a daily headache diary and continue the participant's regular migraine medications. Participants will also have several clinic visits and be asked to provide blood samples for research.

18+
All Sexes
Fremont, CA

This study is researching experimental drugs called REGN7508 and REGN9933. The study is focused on participants who have atrial fibrillation, which means that the heart beats too fast and unevenly. REGN7508 and REGN9933 are designed to help stop blood clots forming in patients with atrial fibrillation. The aim of the study is to see how well REGN7508 and REGN9933 work in patients that get medicine for their atrial fibrillation. The bleeding effects of REGN7508 and REGN9933 will be compared to another medicine (apixaban), which is available on the market to treat and prevent formation of blood clots. The study is looking at several other research questions, including: * What side effects may happen from taking REGN7508 or REGN9933 * How well do the study drugs reduce the risk of having a stroke * How much of REGN7508 or REGN9933 is in the blood at different times * Whether the body makes antibodies against REGN7508 or REGN9933 (which could make the drugs less effective or could lead to side effects)

Remote Home Monitoring for Heart Attack

Heart attacks are one of the top causes of death in Canada, with over 2,100 cases treated each year in Manitoba. Even though hospital care has improved, the period after going home is still risky. Many patients feel anxious and unsure about their recovery, and without enough support, they often end up back in the emergency department (ED). This is an even bigger challenge for people in rural areas, where getting follow-up care can be much harder. Filling these gaps is important to help patients get better and to reduce stress on the healthcare system. In a previous study, the investigators found that extra support made a big difference: only 8% of participants using a digital health tool returned to the ED within 30 days, compared to 22% of participants without it. Now, the investigators want to expand this study across Manitoba to see if digital health tools can help more people recover safely at home. The investigators will compare two types of follow-up care: education only versus education with extra support (like symptom tracking and virtual appointments). The investigators will look at how this affects hospital visits, mental well-being, and healthcare costs. The goal is to create a better support system for people after a heart attack, leading to healthier recoveries, less strain on hospitals, and better care for Manitobans - no matter where they live.
