Idiopathic Hypersomnia (IH) is a condition where people feel extremely sleepy during the day, especially in the morning, even if they sleep a lot at night. They may have trouble waking up in the morning, no matter how much they sleep (sometimes more than 11 hours per day), and they can't help feeling tired, even after taking daytime naps. Because of this sleepiness, they may have trouble focusing, thinking clearly, or keeping up with daily activities. They may also have symptoms like dizziness or feeling lightheaded. Orexin is a chemical made in the brain that helps keep a person awake and alert. TAK-360 acts like orexin. Previous studies have shown that medicines that act like orexin may keep people awake. The main aim of this study is to learn how safe TAK-360 is and how well adults with IH tolerate it. Researchers also want to find out if TAK-360 can help people with IH stay awake and how much TAK-360 is needed to do that. Participants will be randomly (by chance, like drawing names from a hat) chosen to receive either TAK-360 or a placebo. The placebo looks just like TAK-360 but does not have any medicine in it. Using a placebo helps researchers learn about the real effect of the treatment.

This study is researching experimental (study) drugs called pozelimab and cemdisiran. The study is focused on participants who have geographic atrophy (GA) caused by age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Geographic atrophy is a medical term that refers to later-stage cases of AMD which is an eye condition affecting central vision (what one sees straight ahead). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the progression rate of Geographic Atrophy in eyes of patients treated with cemdisiran alone or in combination with pozelimab compared to those treated with placebo. The study is looking at several other research questions, including: * What side effects may happen from taking the study drug(s) * How much study drug(s) are in the blood at different times * Whether the body makes antibodies against the study drug(s) (which could make the study drug(s) less effective or could lead to side effects)

The purpose of this study is to generate evidence on an alternative dosing strategy for CDK4/6 inhibitors to help more patients with Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) (age ≥ 65 years) tolerate side effects and stay on treatment longer, to derive the most clinical benefit from these drugs. The primary objective of the CDK Study is to compare time to treatment discontinuation (TTD) on the approved dosing for palbociclib (125 mg orally daily on days 1-21 of 28-day cycle) or ribociclib (600 mg orally daily on days 1-21 of 28-day cycle) vs. TTD using titrated dosing approach with the same schedule but starting at a lower dose of palbociclib (100 mg or 75 mg) or ribociclib (400 mg or 200 mg) and escalating the dose if well-tolerated in combination with provider/patient choice endocrine therapy (aromatase inhibitor (AI) or fulvestrant) in patients age 65 or older with HR+/HER2- MBC. The secondary and exploratory objectives will generate evidence needed to personalize treatment decisions by comparing patient-centric secondary outcomes and evaluating baseline factors. Together with their treating physician, participants will choose the CDK4/6 inhibitor (palbociclib or ribociclib) and which endocrine therapy (aromatase inhibitor or fulvestrant) of their choice but will be randomized to either Arm 1 (indicated dosing) or Arm 2 (titrated dosing).

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do clinical trials in Hickory, NC pay?

Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do clinical trials in Hickory, NC work?

After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. Across trials in Hickory, NC 30% of clinical trials have a placebo. Typically, you'll be required to check-in with the clinic every month or so. The average trial length in Hickory, NC is 12 months.

How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?

Not all studies recruit healthy volunteers: usually, Phase 1 studies do. Participating as a healthy volunteer means you will go to a research facility in Hickory, NC several times over a few days or weeks to receive a dose of either the test treatment or a "placebo," which is a harmless substance that helps researchers compare results. You will have routine tests during these visits, and you'll be compensated for your time and travel, with the number of appointments and details varying by study.

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a medical study in Hickory, NC ?

Clinical trials are almost always free to participants, and so do not require insurance. The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental. For these cancer trials, participants typically need insurance to cover all the non-experimental components.

What are the newest clinical trials in Hickory, NC ?

Most recently, we added Maridebart Cafraglutide for Obesity, Zasocitinib for Psoriatic Arthritis and Baxdrostat + Dapagliflozin for Chronic Kidney Disease and High Blood Pressure to the Power online platform.
