How Opticrom Affects PatientsCromoglicate (also known as cromolyn) is a synthetic drug used to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, systemic mastocytosis, and ulcerative colitis. It works by preventing the airways from narrowing during an asthma attack or allergic reaction. It is available as an eye drop and as an oral medication.
How Opticrom works in the bodyCromoglicate reduces the severity of allergic reactions. It does this by blocking the release of histamine and other substances from mast cells. It may also reduce inflammation by blocking calcium from entering the cell.
When to interrupt dosage
The suggested dosage of Opticrom is contingent upon the recognized condition, including Urticaria Pigmentosa, Exercise-Induced Bronchospasm and Conjunctivitis, Vernal. The measure of dosage is reliant upon the technique of delivery (e.g. Liquid; Spray or Respiratory (inhalation)) indicated in the table below.Condition
