Study Summary

This trial will develop and test a new intervention for adolescents with binge/loss-of-control eating.

Who is the study for?
Adolescents aged 12-17 who are above the 85th percentile for BMI, have had at least two episodes of binge or loss-of-control eating per month in the last three months, and can read and write English. What is being tested?
The trial is testing a new cognitive-behavioral therapy specifically designed to help teenagers who struggle with binge eating or feeling out of control while eating. The effectiveness of this therapy will be compared to a control condition over a period of seven months.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this is a behavioral intervention study focusing on therapy rather than medication, there may not be direct side effects like those associated with drugs; however, participants might experience emotional discomfort discussing their eating habits.
