Effectiveness
How Azelastine Hydrochloride Affects Patients
Azelastine works by blocking the effects of histamine, providing relief from allergy symptoms. When taken in nasal or eye drop form, it will start working within 15 minutes and last for up to 12 hours. The peak effects usually occur 4-6 hours after taking the initial dose.
How Azelastine Hydrochloride works in the body
Azelastine works by blocking histamine H1-receptors, which are found on nerve endings, smooth muscle cells, and glandular cells. When allergens are present in sensitized individuals, histamine is released and binds to these receptors. This contributes to allergy symptoms like itching, sneezing, and congestion. Azelastine also helps to stabilize mast cells, prevent the release of other inflammation-causing substances, and reduce substances that cause nasal itching and sneezing.

The measure of Azelastine Hydrochloride is contingent upon the recognized malady, including Hay Fever, Disorder of eye and Keratoconjunctivitis. The extent of dosage fluctuates as per the technique of delivery (e.g. Nasal or Solution / drops) featured in the table beneath.
