It is more powerful than other progestins like levonorgestrel and norethynodrel, and is used in contraception and hormone replacement therapies. How Norethindrone Acetate Affects Patients

Norethisterone is a type of medicine taken by mouth to either prevent pregnancy or treat other hormone-related conditions such as menopause and endometriosis. It works in a similar way to the hormone progesterone, but is much more powerful. It affects the pelvic area, cervical and endometrial function, and stops hormones from maturing and releasing eggs. Taking norethisterone has been linked to a slightly higher risk of breast cancer, so it is important for patients to be aware of this and to regularly check their breasts for any changes.

How Norethindrone Acetate works in the body

Norethisterone works by binding to progesterone receptors in the reproductive tract, breast, pituitary, hypothalamus, skeletal tissue, and central nervous system. It thickens the cervical mucus to block sperm from entering, makes the endometrium inhospitable for implantation, and suppresses hormones that cause follicular development and ovulation. When combined with estrogen in postmenopausal women, norethisterone helps protect against endometrial hyperplasia, which can lead to cancer. This medication is exactly as my doctor said it would be. I take it for the first 10 days of each month, and then my period starts about 3 days after I stop the pills. The side effects are tiredness, hunger, and a small amount of swelling in my feet; however, these are manageable considering the price and effectiveness of the medication.

I had tried all natural remedies because I'm not fond of taking medications due to my sensitive system.I was flooding with huge clots for 32 days straight and after the second day of taking a total of 8 pills, the bleeding stopped. It has been over 2 weeks,gained 2 pounds but to me thats better than getting the hysterectomy my gyno recommended due to a fibroid.Hoping I can stay on this pill for a long time instead of surgery.

I took this drug for over a year to help with premenopausal/menopause constant bleeding. It eventually stopped the non-stop bleeding after two months, which was great. However, it caused some major disruptions to my sleeping patterns and severe mood swings and depression.

I saw a lot of success in the first two months of taking this medication, but unfortunately the pain has started to come back. I'm now resorting to daily ibuprofen again, which doesn't seem to be helping as much as it used to. I'm not sure what my next step should be, as Lupron sounds like a terrible option.

I began this medication on 1/6/16 and have experienced hot flashes, night sweats, a rash on my back, mood swings, and weight gain (15lbs). I see no change in my pain levels. Overall, I would not recommend taking Norethindrone or the Lupron Depot shot.

VIVA is an intervention for people with vertebral fractures that covers four areas: pain management, safe movement, exercise, and nutrition. It includes print and video resources, and a framework for goal setting, selecting exercises, and teaching body mechanics. A chiropractor (DC) completes a virtual assessment and then leads twelve 1:1 virtual sessions (via Zoom) over eight weeks. Sessions start with brief education on a topic (e.g., safe movement, pain management, exercise, nutrition), followed by training and modeling of exercise and safe movement strategies, then goal setting, and action planning. This trial will be considered feasible if a) we recruit 14 people in eight months; b) 80% of participants complete the trial; and c) exercise adherence is 75%.

Sculptra + Restylane for Post-Menopausal Skin Concerns

The post-menopausal state is marked by a sharp decline in estrogen, leading to significant structural and functional changes in the skin, including collagen loss, dryness, thinning, and reduced elasticity. To address these concerns, aesthetic injectables products such as Sculptra® Aesthetic (poly-L-lactic-acid \[PLLA- SCA\]) and Restylane Skinboosters®\[HASBV\] (small-particle hyaluronic acid - SP-HA) can be used. PLLA-SCA stimulates collagen production via cellular activation (biostimulator), gradually improving dermal structure. HASBV enhances hydration, elasticity, and skin texture when injected under the skin. Considering that hydration and laxity represent the primary aesthetic concerns in this patient population. Targeted treatment with SP-HA (HASBV) to improve hydration and PLLA-SCA to address laxity have been shown to produce significant clinical outcomes by directly addressing these key dermal deficiencies. This approach forms the basis of the current study.

Ketamine for Pelvic Pain

The purpose of this research study is to see if ketamine infusion during surgery can decrease pain after surgery. Ketamine is a medication commonly used as part of anesthesia during surgery and is approved by the US FDA. Patients will be randomized to either receive standard anesthesia with OR without ketamine. The surgical procedure will be the same regardless of which group patients are randomized to. After surgery, patients will be asked to rate their pain in the post-operative observation unit and at their two-week post-operative visit. No additional visits are required for participation in this study. The investigators estimate the surveys will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
