Effectiveness

How Norethindrone Acetate Affects PatientsNorethisterone is a type of medicine taken by mouth to either prevent pregnancy or treat other hormone-related conditions such as menopause and endometriosis. It works in a similar way to the hormone progesterone, but is much more powerful. It affects the pelvic area, cervical and endometrial function, and stops hormones from maturing and releasing eggs. Taking norethisterone has been linked to a slightly higher risk of breast cancer, so it is important for patients to be aware of this and to regularly check their breasts for any changes.
How Norethindrone Acetate works in the bodyNorethisterone works by binding to progesterone receptors in the reproductive tract, breast, pituitary, hypothalamus, skeletal tissue, and central nervous system. It thickens the cervical mucus to block sperm from entering, makes the endometrium inhospitable for implantation, and suppresses hormones that cause follicular development and ovulation. When combined with estrogen in postmenopausal women, norethisterone helps protect against endometrial hyperplasia, which can lead to cancer. It has low affinity for other steroid receptors such as the androgen receptor and glucocorticoid receptor, but is

Norethindrone Acetate Reviews: What are patients saying about Norethindrone Acetate?

5Patient Review

Norethindrone Acetate for Absence of Menstrual Periods in Woman Who Has Had Them
This medication is exactly as my doctor said it would be. I take it for the first 10 days of each month, and then my period starts about 3 days after I stop the pills. The side effects are tiredness, hunger, and a small amount of swelling in my feet; however, these are manageable considering the price and effectiveness of the medication.

Norethindrone Acetate for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding caused by Imbalance of Hormones
It took a little while to see results, but this treatment has been great for me. I haven't had any negative side effects in the two years that I've been taking it.

Norethindrone Acetate for Endometriosis
I was in a lot of pain after my hysterectomy, and this medication really helped. Within days I felt relief. It's the only thing I take now for endometriosis, and it's worth it.

Norethindrone Acetate for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding caused by Imbalance of Hormones
I had tried all natural remedies because I'm not fond of taking medications due to my sensitive system.I was flooding with huge clots for 32 days straight and after the second day of taking a total of 8 pills, the bleeding stopped. It has been over 2 weeks, gained 2 pounds but to me thats better than getting the hysterectomy my gyno recommended due to a fibroid.Hoping I can stay on this pill for a long time instead of surgery.

Norethindrone Acetate for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding caused by Imbalance of Hormones
I took this drug for over a year to help with premenopausal/menopause constant bleeding. It eventually stopped the non-stop bleeding after two months, which was great. However, it caused some major disruptions to my sleeping patterns and severe mood swings and depression.

Norethindrone Acetate for Endometriosis
I saw a lot of success in the first two months of taking this medication, but unfortunately the pain has started to come back. I'm now resorting to daily ibuprofen again, which doesn't seem to be helping as much as it used to. I'm not sure what my next step should be, as Lupron sounds like a terrible option.

Norethindrone Acetate for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding caused by Imbalance of Hormones
While this medication did help to lessen the amount of pain I experience during my period, it also caused me to have more large and painful clots.

Norethindrone Acetate for Endometriosis
I began this medication on 1/6/16 and have experienced hot flashes, night sweats, a rash on my back, mood swings, and weight gain (15lbs). I see no change in my pain levels. Overall, I would not recommend taking Norethindrone or the Lupron Depot shot.
