Summary

By providing training in these areas, the program aims to make families more stable and improve their quality of life.

Who is the study for?
The REACH trial is for adults over 18 living in Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties on the Gulf Coast of Florida who want to improve their marriage or committed relationship skills. It's not open to those under 18 or living outside these areas.
What is being tested?
REACH tests a program called Marriage and Relationship Enhancement Skills (MRES) Intervention aimed at fostering healthy relationships, effective parenting/co-parenting, economic self-sufficiency, and family stability.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves educational interventions rather than medical treatments, traditional physical side effects are not applicable. Participants may experience emotional discomfort addressing personal issues.

Other Research
The REACH program focuses on enhancing relationship skills, improving parenting abilities, and fostering economic self-sufficiency. The mechanisms of action for these interventions typically involve psychoeducation, skills training, and supportive services. Psychoeducation helps patients understand the importance of healthy relationships and effective parenting, while skills training provides practical tools for communication, conflict resolution, and financial management. Supportive services offer ongoing assistance and resources to help patients apply these skills in real-life situations. These mechanisms are crucial for intervention patients as they promote stability, improve family dynamics, and enhance overall quality of life.
