Vitamin A is a group of fat-soluble substances that are related to retinol and have important functions in vision, growth, reproduction, development of bones and the immune system, and more. Vitamin A is essential for proper functioning of the body.

How Aquasol A works in the body

Vitamin A helps us to see in the dark. It does this by attaching to a protein in the eye called opsin. When light strikes opsin, it causes Vitamin A to change shape and send a signal to the brain. This signal allows us to see. When the light fades away, Vitamin A changes back to its original shape and reconnects with opsin. Vitamin A also helps cells to grow and differentiate. It does this by binding to receptors in the nucleus of cells, which then turn on certain genes that help the cell grow and divide normally. If there isn't enough Vitamin A available, these processes can be disrupted.

Aquasol A Toxicity & Overdose Risk

Eating too much vitamin A in a short period of time can cause serious toxicity in adults and children. Adults need to consume more than 100 times the recommended daily allowance (RDA) and children need to consume more than 20 times the RDA for this to occur. Symptoms may include dry skin, chapped lips, and confusion. Children are more likely to experience toxicity from smaller doses than adults. Taking more than 25,000 IU daily for 6 years or 100,000 IU daily for 6 months can cause long-term toxicity and can lead to problems like osteoporosis and headaches.
