Summary
This trial will test whether a change in diet can help people with psoriatic arthritis.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-80 with a BMI between 25 and 40, diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis by a rheumatologist. Participants must have been on stable PsA treatment for at least three months, own a smartphone or be willing to use one provided, and are open to changing their diet for the study duration. Exclusions include eating disorders, certain medical conditions like insulin-dependent diabetes or advanced cancer, food allergies related to the study diets, inability to consent or read/write in English.
What is being tested?
The trial is testing two different diets' effects on psoriatic arthritis over a period of 24 weeks. Patients will be assigned one of these diets and will need to adhere strictly while attending regular follow-up visits. The goal is to see if dietary changes can improve symptoms associated with PsA.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves dietary interventions rather than medication, side effects may include changes in weight or digestive discomfort as participants adjust to new eating habits. Specific side effects will depend on individual health conditions and the nature of diet changes.
