Summary
This trial will test if neck exercises can reduce the risk of post-surgery complications like difficulty swallowing.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults needing elective neck surgery (C2-C7) due to degenerative disc disease or myelopathy. It's not suitable for those with infections, previous neck surgeries like thyroidectomy, tumors, procedures involving more than four levels of fusion, prior anterior cervical spine surgery, or neurological conditions that affect swallowing.
What is being tested?
The study tests if doing Tracheal Traction Exercises (TTE) before anterior cervical spine surgery can lower the chances of developing swallowing difficulties post-surgery.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves exercises rather than medication, side effects are minimal but may include discomfort in the throat area due to the traction exercises.
