Effectiveness
How Cinoxacin Affects Patients
Cinoxacin is an artificial antibiotic that is effective against many types of bacteria, especially those from the Enterobacteriaceae family. It works by stopping bacteria from making new DNA and killing them. It is effective over any pH level in the urinary system and is resistant to nalidixic acid.
How Cinoxacin works in the body
Cinoxacin works by attaching to DNA and preventing the creation of RNA and proteins. Cinoxacin also stops an enzyme called DNA gyrase from working. This enzyme helps separate DNA into two copies when cells divide, so when it is blocked, the cell can't divide properly.
