Effectiveness

How Lysodren Affects PatientsMitotane is a medicine used to treat cancer of the adrenal glands. It changes the way the body processes cortisol, a hormone released by the adrenal glands, and can stop the cancerous cells from growing without completely destroying them. It makes the body produce more of a certain kind of cortisol, which lowers levels of other types of cortisol.
How Lysodren works in the bodyWe don't know exactly how it works, but studies suggest this drug alters how your body processes hormones and reduces activity in the adrenal cortex.

Lysodren for Cushing's Syndrome
My cocker spaniel has been on this medication for less than a year and has experienced some of the common side effects, such as drowsiness and loss of appetite. She also has atypical Cushing's which requires us to medicate with melatonin. This is likely adding to her drowsiness.
