Trial Summary

What is the purpose of this trial?This study seeks to develop and test an internet video series aimed at helping individuals reduce cigarette smoking. Participants (daily smokers) will be asked to watch a series of six videos (approximately 6.5 minutes each) which cover various empirically-supported smoking cessation strategies and tools. Examples of strategies included in the videos include noticing smoking cues and consequences and relaxation training. Participants' demographic information, motivation to change, reactions to the video series alliance with video therapist, and confidence in avoiding smoking will all be measured. Additionally, participants will be asked to report their smoking behavior at study baseline and follow-up.

Eligibility Criteria

This trial is for daily smokers who want to quit. Participants will watch a series of six short videos designed to help them stop smoking by teaching various strategies like recognizing triggers and learning how to relax. They'll share their background info, motivation, reactions to the videos, connection with the video therapist, and confidence in quitting.

Daily smoker

Interested in reducing smoking

Not currently enrolled in any smoking cessation program

Exclusion Criteria

Not interested in reducing smoking

Currently enrolled in a smoking cessation program

Participant Groups

The intervention being tested is an internet video series aimed at helping people quit smoking. The study measures its effectiveness based on participants' feedback and changes in their smoking behavior before and after watching the videos.
