What is Thalitone

ChlorthalidoneThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryChlorthalidone is a medication used to treat high blood pressure and swelling caused by heart or kidney problems. It works by preventing the kidneys from absorbing too much salt and water, which helps reduce blood pressure. Studies have shown that chlorthalidone can reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and even death in people with high blood pressure. It is often used as a first-line treatment for hypertension and may be more effective than other medications like beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, or ARBs. Chlorthalidone has also been shown to reduce platelet aggregation and increase vascular permeability

Effectiveness

How Thalitone works in the bodyChlorthalidone stops sodium and chloride from being reabsorbed back into the body. When this happens, fluid is forced out of the body, which lowers blood pressure. Chlorthalidone also helps reduce platelet aggregation and increases the formation of blood vessels, both of which help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
