Summary

This trial will investigate the impact of different amounts of produce prescription benefits on food insecurity, fruit/veg consumption & benefit redemption. Participants will get $40, $80 or $110/month for 6 months.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 who speak English or Spanish, can fill out a written survey, and are tech-savvy enough to complete an online survey. They must be receiving services at El Concilio in Stockton, CA. People with severe cognitive impairments that affect understanding of surveys or consent forms cannot participate.
What is being tested?
The study is testing if giving different amounts of money ($40, $80, or $110 per month) to buy fruits and vegetables affects how much people redeem the benefits, their food security status, and their fruit and vegetable intake over six months.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves monetary benefits for purchasing produce rather than medical interventions, there are no direct side effects associated with traditional clinical trials.
