What is Mephyton

PhylloquinoneThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryVitamin K1 (also known as phylloquinone or phytonadione) is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps the body form clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X. It is used to treat clotting disorders caused by a lack of vitamin K. This vitamin has been available since 1939 and was approved by the FDA before 1955.

Effectiveness

How Mephyton Affects PatientsPhylloquinone is a vitamin K used to treat problems with blood clotting due to a lack of or reduced activity of vitamin K. It stays in the body for a long time and is safe to take in large doses. People taking this medication should have their prothrombin time monitored, and healthcare professionals should be aware of the risk of allergic reactions with injections.
How Mephyton works in the bodyVitamin K helps the body form blood clots by helping clotting proteins bind to calcium ions. This allows them to become active and be released into the blood, which helps stop bleeding. Vitamin K might also help prevent joint calcification, increased bone density, and reducing the risk of vascular calcification. These benefits are still being studied.

When to interrupt dosage

The suggested portion of Mephyton is contingent upon the diagnosed condition, like Sprue, Vitamin supplementation and Ulcerative Colitis. The measure of dosage is contingent upon the method of delivery outlined in the table beneath.
