Summary
This trial is testing the efficacy of a brief, single-session, web-delivered intervention to prevent alcohol misuse and associated negative consequences among young veterans.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for veterans aged 18-40 who have left the military within the last 5 years, drink alcohol at levels that may be harmful (AUDIT-C score above threshold), and haven't sought treatment for mental health or substance use in the past six months. They must read English, have internet access, and an email.
What is being tested?
The study tests a web-based intervention providing personalized feedback on drinking norms to prevent alcohol misuse among young veterans not seeking behavioral health care. It compares enhanced feedback aimed at encouraging treatment against a control group over a year.
What are the potential side effects?
As this is a non-medical intervention focusing on personalized normative feedback delivered online, there are no direct physical side effects associated with traditional medical treatments or pharmaceuticals.
