Eligibility Criteria Checklist

Must have

AUDIT-C scores of 3 or higher (for females) or 4 or higher (for males), which represents a sex-specific positive screen for hazardous and harmful alcohol use, as well as a possible AUD in civilian and military samples

Be between 18 and 65 years old

This trial is testing the efficacy of a brief, single-session, web-delivered intervention to prevent alcohol misuse and associated negative consequences among young veterans.

This trial is for veterans aged 18-40 who have left the military within the last 5 years, drink alcohol at levels that may be harmful (AUDIT-C score above threshold), and haven't sought treatment for mental health or substance use in the past six months. They must read English, have internet access, and an email.

Personalized feedback about drinking behavior compared to peers

Group II: ControlActive Control1 Intervention

Control participants will receive content similar in length but different in content from the PNF (i.e., non-drinking focused). These participants will receive information based on their actual and perceived behavior of playing video games, a strategy used in prior PNF work to balance attention to non-targeted behaviors.
