It can also help with symptoms of anaphylaxis such as stomach pain, discomfort in the urinary or reproductive organs, and other gastrointestinal issues.
How Primatene Mist works in the bodyEpinephrine is a drug that works on both alpha and beta-adrenergic receptors. It can reduce swelling, narrow blood vessels, and relax the muscles in the lungs, which helps with breathing difficulties. It also stimulates sugar production in the liver and can block the effects of histamines, which helps reduce allergic reactions. In sum, epinephrine is used to treat symptoms associated with anaphylaxis, like swelling, hypotension, dyspnea, and wheezing.

Primatene Mist Toxicity & Overdose RiskEpinephrine can cause serious side effects when taken in large doses. These include anxiety, headache, palpitations, necrosis at injection sites, heart attack, irregular heartbeat, cerebral hemorrhage, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. In some cases, it can also cause high blood pressure, which can lead to angina, cardiac ischemia, or aortic rupture. Taking too much epinephrine can also cause pulmonary edema, renal vasoconstriction, and digital vasoconstriction. Pregnant women should only take epinephrine if it is absolutely necessary and it may delay the second stage

Dexmedetomidine for Pain Relief

This study will compare three different doses of perineural dexmedetomidine 0.67 mcg/kg, 1 mcg/kg, and 1.33 mcg/kg as adjuvants to local anesthetics for ultrasound-guided infraclavicular brachial plexus blocks (ICBs). Our research hypothesis is that 1.33 mcg/kg will provide a 15%-longer duration than 1mcg/kg, which in turn will provide a 15%-longer duration than 0.67 mcg/kg. Since analgesic duration and sensory duration can be influenced by intake of pain medications and surgical trauma to small cutaneous nerves, respectively, we will select motor block duration as the main outcome to better target the action of dexmedetomidine on the brachial plexus.

HIIT for Coronary Artery Disease

The main goal is to understand what causes reduced fitness in ANOCA and whether targeted exercise can help improve it. This study aims to better understand why patients with Angina and No Obstructive Coronary Artery Disease (ANOCA) have poor cardiorespiratory fitness and its effect on quality of life. Investigators also want to see if a structured high-intensity exercise program (HIIT), done with remote monitoring, can safely improve heart function, fitness, and quality of life in these patients. The Investigators will use a special exercise test called cardiopulmonary exercise testing to look for patterns that can help explain exercise limitations and quality of life in ANOCA before and after a remote high-intensity exercise program.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment for Asthma

Asthma is a common respiratory condition that can be difficult to control despite the use of medications such as inhalers, oral steroids or even injectable medications. Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is a hands-on technique used to improve the chest structure and function and may help in improving breathing. Previous research showed that OMT in asthma patients, can improve the movement of the ribs and improve the "peak flow" which is the maximum rate at which a person can exhale air after taking a deep breath. However, no studies have evaluated the impact of OMT on lung inflammation. This single-site research study at University Hospitals aims to evaluate whether Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) can reduce lung inflammation and improve breathing and lung function in adult patients with asthma. The lung function will be evaluated by Spirometry which is a test that measures how much air you can breathe in and out of your lungs, as well as how quickly and easily you can exhale air. The lung inflammation will be measured using a device that can detect how much you are breathing out Nitric Oxide which is a gas produced by inflamed cells in the lungs, this test is called: Fractional exhaled Nitric Oxide or FeNO. Approximately 100 participants will be enrolled.
